Sickness

  • If your son/daughter/ward is feeling ill before school, you are advised to allow him/her to remain at home or seek medical attention. The school does not have the medical facilities and personnel to cater to students who are ill as medical facilities including sickrooms are totally in adequate.
  • Any student who is absent from school, the parents/guardian should send a written excuse.
  • If the student is absent for three (3) or more days, the parents/guardians should send a written excuse AND a medical certificate. If the parent/guardian telephones the excuse, the student must bring the letter on his/her return. Students absent for three days or more days WILL NOT BE allowed in class until the medical certificate is submitted to the school.
  • Exclusions from schools: (subject to review from Ministry of Health)
    • Measles - 14 days after rash
    • German Measles - 7 days after rash
    • Mumps - 7 days after swelling has gone down
    • Chicken Pox - 14 days after the appearance of rash
    • Other communicable diseases (including influenza, whooping cough) on date recommended by doctor’s certificate. In case of illness, parents will be notified.

Health Care

This school does not administer medication to students (giving students panadols, Advil, paracetamol etc.) We are only allowed to administer essential first aid, and in an emergency, seek assistant from professional health personnel (nearby polyclinic or doctor), after contacting the parent. In such emergencies, the parent is requested to treat the matter with urgency and proceed to the school/hospital immediately to be with his/her child.

Parents are urged to ensure that essential information regarding the child’s health, as well as an emergency contact number, are logged in the school’s admissions’ office.

Any student who needs to be exempted from Physical Education or physical activity should provide a medical certificate requesting the exemption.

Cap 41. Part V, reg. 31 (4,6)

4) Where a pupil is injured or falls ill while on the premises of any school during school hours or in the course of any official school activity, the principal, or where the principal is unavailable, any other teacher, shall obtain medical attention for the pupil and inform the parent as soon as possible.

6) Where the principal or a teacher of any school obtains medical attention for a pupil under paragraph (4) that principal or teacher is not liable for any act or omission relating to the obtaining of medical attention done reasonably and in good faith.
